Over time, the buttocks can lose firmness and fullness due to fat redistribution and the effects of gravity. Augmenting and lifting the buttocks can achieve a fuller, more sculpted appearance that exercise and diet alone may not provide.
Methods
This procedure can enhance overall body proportions and is typically performed using one of two methods:
- Liposuction and Fat Transfer: After removing excess fat from other areas of the body, the processed fat is injected into the buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift).
- Implants: For those without sufficient fat for transfer, implants can be used to enhance the buttocks without prior liposuction.
Candidates are adults with stable body weight and good overall health.
Common reasons for choosing this procedure include:
- Naturally flat or undefined buttocks
- Disproportionate buttocks due to weight fluctuations
- Sagging buttocks from aging
- Asymmetry
Procedure and Recovery
Implants are placed beneath the muscle through an incision hidden in a natural crease. Quality implants rarely need replacement unless the patient wishes to change size. Fat transfer involves injecting processed fat through small incisions, leaving minimal scars.
The surgery can be done under local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the procedure. Recovery typically takes about 10 days, during which rest and avoiding strenuous activities are recommended. Final results from fat transfer appear in about three months, while implant results are visible almost immediately. Post-surgery care includes resting, using a cushion when sitting, wearing compression garments, and lymphatic drainage massages for optimal results.
Combining Procedures
Buttock augmentation can be combined with other surgeries, such as liposuction or skin removal.
